Psalm 110

 


Psalm 110 is frequently referenced in the New Testament.  Some example passages are Matthew 22:43-45; Mark 12:35-37; Luke 20:41-44; Acts 2:33-36; Hebrews 1:13, 5:6-10, 7:11-28.  Thus, this would be considered a Messianic psalm, for it points to Jesus as our King and Priest.

Following are some reflections that may be beneficial to consider when meditating on this psalm:
  • Verses 1-7 [NOTE:  The story of Melchizedek king of Salem and priest of God Most High is told in Genesis 14:17-24]
    • In what ways is Jesus my King?
    • In what ways is Jesus my Priest?
