Psalm 123

Psalm 123 is in the Songs of Ascents series (Psalms 120-134). These songs were likely sung during the three annual festival processions to Jerusalem (Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles). Psalm 123 looks to the LORD God for mercy when facing scorn and contempt.

Following are some reflections that may be beneficial to consider when meditating on this psalm:
  • Verses 1-2
    • In what ways are looking to the LORD our God similar to servants looking to the hands of their masters?
  • Verses 3-4
    • How might the mercy of God help me when my soul has had more than enough of the scorn and contempt of the world?

If you would like to meditate on this psalm through music as well, following is a link to a YouTube video:
